Electrical Safety Notice 13.3.2025

Genelec have identified a remote possibility of an electrical safety risk with certain monitor, audio interface, and amplifier models manufactured after 1st of March, 2024.

All units leaving the Genelec factory are always 100% individually tested for electrical safety. However, our internal quality control has identified a risk that a failing component might, under very unlikely circumstances, develop an electrical safety risk to the user.

Units manufactured after 1st of March, 2024 of following models may be affected: 4040A, 7360A, 7370A, 7380A, 7382A, 8040B, 8050B, 9301B, 9401A, 8381A, 1237A, 1238A, 1238DF, 1234A, 1235A, 1236A, G4A, and G5A.

Action you should take now

The possibility of the realization of the risk is very unlikely. Even so, Genelec has determined that this is a serious safety issue. In order to eliminate the risk, we invite owners to have their units inspected free of charge (including shipping costs) by a Genelec authorized service centre. Do not attempt to inspect or diagnose the units by yourself.

1 Disconnect power

Please disconnect your device from mains power first by disconnecting it from the wall outlet, before taking any other action.

2 Check your serial numbers

Look up and type your complete serial number of your device into the search field below. This interactive service will determine if your unit needs to be checked by the Genelec authorized service centre. For example, if the serial number shown on a unit is “4040AWM61012345”, then enter this complete serial number into the field. Leaving out any parts of the serial number can result in a false result.

If your unit is part of the Recall Service Programme, you will see the message:
“Please contact your local Genelec distributor / authorized service centre.

If your unit is not a part of the Recall Service Programme, you will see the message:
“Your unit is not affected and you may continue using it safely.”

3 If necessary, contact your local distributor / service centre

If the serial number check indicates that your unit needs technical service, contact your local Genelec distributor or authorized service centre, and follow the instructions you receive from them. Shipping and service work related to this issue will be free of charge.
