Genelec Inc.'s Sales Manager Paul Stewart
Hi, I'm Paul Stewart, and I'm the Senior Technical Sales Manager for Genelec Inc., which is Genelec's US subsidiary.
I joined the team in 2006. I was the new guy just prior to the launch of Genelec "DSP loudspeakers" – what we call Smart Active Monitors today. I've taken that whole ride with the organization. It’s amazing to have been able to grow with the brand like that.
As Sales Manager, my responsibilities encompass a diverse range of tasks, all geared towards driving nationwide sales initiatives. Collaborating closely with our network of dealers, engaging directly with end users, and spearheading innovative marketing campaigns across social media platforms are just a few of the many exciting challenges I tackle on a weekly basis. What I find most exhilarating about my job is its dynamic nature; every day brings a new and unique set of tasks to conquer. One day I might be shooting a promotional video, while the next day I could be delivering a presentation at our Experience Centeror meeting with a high-profile client in the field. The ever-changing nature of my work keeps me energized and motivated, and I relish the opportunity to take on new and exciting challenges.
From a young age, music has been my passion. I have vivid memories of using a building block as a microphone, spreading out a blanket to serve as my stage, and putting on shows for anyone who would listen. I wanted to be Tom Jones and have my own variety show! However, my love for the guitar eventually took over, and I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston to pursue my dream as a guitarist.
During my time at Berklee, I became involved in building wiring systems, which was my introduction to the technical side of the music industry. My roommate was a repair technician for an audio company, which exposed me to the intricacies of the industry every day. Before I knew it, I was building patch bays, learning about cabling, and discovering the various studios located throughout Boston. I was amazed at the number of fantastic audio companies established in the area. Through my experiences, I found myself fully immersed in a career designing, selling, and building recording systems. When the opportunity arose to become a Product Specialist at Genelec Inc., I knew it was a natural fit for me.
Working on the marketing and social media side of Genelec's activities is one of the most enjoyable – and at times, comic relief – aspects of my job. It allows me to showcase the essence of Genelec and its products while tapping into my inner performer. Creating informative content is an excellent way to engage with customers and keep them up to date with our latest developments.
On Instagram, we have a regular feature called Tech Tuesdays. Here, we delve deep into various aspects of the science of audio, providing valuable information and insights to our followers. Our series Live from the Cave has also been a big hit. Being involved in this area of the business has been incredibly fulfilling, enabling me to be creative while interacting with people from all over the world.
During my almost two decades with Genelec, one of my personal highlights was meeting the late Ilpo Martikainen, the founder and mastermind behind the company. At a trade show, I overheard him asking about the new hire, and without hesitation, he made his way over to me, introduced himself, and expressed interest in learning more about me. This simple interaction left a lasting impression, showing me that I was part of an organization that cares about its people.
The values of Genelec, especially sustainability, are something that I deeply admire. Sustainability encompasses thoughtfulness, energy efficiency, ecology, and longevity. For a company that has been around since 1978, these principles remain paramount and at the forefront of the movement. Working for a company that stands behind its product is a source of pride for me. I am excited to demonstrate to the world the care that goes into each product we make. We are a close-knit family, and we welcome you to be part of it.
Greetings from a colleague:
When I came in for my interview you happily showed me around the office, introduced me to the Genelec product line, and kindly handed me a Genelec Acoustitape to take home. I knew this was a company I wanted to work for from that experience.
Your constant positive attitude and passion towards your job, as well as the videos and marketing activities we create together, are motivating and make our work fun and rewarding.
I'm always looking forward to the next project!
Your Colleague, Eric Daubney
