Producer Engineer DJ Swivel Makes His Mark on Genelec 8351s
Grammy Award-winning mix engineer and producer, DJ Swivel has been a long-time Genelec user for more than 15 years. Fresh out of Full Sail University in 2005, Swivel started his career in New York City working alongside mixer and producer Duro and received his first Grammy in 2012 for his work with Beyonce’s “Love on Top”. In 2017 he won his second Grammy for Best Dance Recording with The Chainsmokers, “Don’t Let Me Down” which was mixed on GLM-calibrated Genelec 8351s in his living room.
In an article for Headliner Magazine he says “The mixing was mostly done using my Genelec 8351s - I just love those speakers, especially as I am mixing at home and it’s an untreated room. The room sounds okay, but there is definitely some reverb and noise here and there, and the Genelecs just correct any problems with the bass, which is just perfect for me, so I live by those speakers.”
Swivel has worked in virtually all genres of music and recently has been quite keen on using his Genelec 8351s with GLM to reference his recordings and mixes wherever he works.
