Genelec Stockholm Artist Room debuts with Bach Jazz
The Stockholm Artist Room, which is part of our beautiful Stockholm Experience Centre facility for auditioning a wide range of Genelec sound reproduction solutions – from stereo to immersive – was alive with anticipation as the highly talented trio of Bach Jazz arrived to break it in, and they certainly didn’t disappoint.
The jazz group have sculpted a fresh and inspired sound – and a strong following – with their unique takes on the works of revered Composer Bach and their nods towards other classic and modern influences, such as Swedish jazz legend Jan Johansson and German icon Nils Frahm. Their interpretation of Bach has been described as “evocative, human, playful and intimate” as “timeless masterpieces meet concentrated presence and spontaneous whimsy”. Indeed, their personal fusion of the disciplines of classical and jazz adds up to a deep and surprising treat for music lovers.
After releasing their first single and EP in the spring of 2024, the trio’s debut album hit stores and streaming platforms on the 6th of September. Well received by Sweden’s largest newspapers and music journals, the album went on to gain airplay on popular jazz radio slots in Sweden. In a notoriously challenging genre, the group have quickly racked up streams, with their top track ‘Passacaglia’ shooting above 150 thousand plays on Spotify alone. Furthermore, Bach Jazz have started an extensive tour of Sweden, which is set to extend into April 2025.
In their two skilful Artist Room performances, ‘Air’ and ‘Passacaglia’, the three prodigious members of Bach Jazz, Emil Carlsson Rinstad on piano, Magnus Bergström on double bass and Ola Winkler on drums, show absolute finesse through their delicate touch, mastery of Bach’s compositions and ability to twist in their own flavoursome ingredients.
